What is NeuroScore?
NeuroScore is umo's daily readiness score. It's a number between 0 and 100 that represents how prepared your nervous system is to train hard today. It combines five inputs:
- Heart rate variability (HRV) — variation between heartbeats, a proxy for parasympathetic recovery
- Sleep — total time, architecture (deep, REM, wake), and consistency
- Reaction time — a quick cognitive test that reflects central nervous system state
- Tremor — fine motor steadiness, tracked via accelerometer
- Subjective wellness — how you feel, captured with a short daily check-in
A score above 75 generally indicates readiness for a hard session. A score below 65 suggests backing off or modifying the plan. umo shows trends alongside the daily number so you can see whether your readiness is trending up or down.
How NeuroScore helps you train smarter
Training decisions based on HRV alone (or worse, "I feel okay") miss context. Sleep affects how you recover. Reaction time reflects CNS fatigue that HRV can miss. Subjective feel catches illness and stress days earlier than physiology. NeuroScore combines these into one signal so you don't have to interpret five numbers every morning.
