Editorial Policy
UMO publishes science-backed content on health, training, and longevity for everyday athletes. This page describes how we select topics, source information, review for accuracy, and correct mistakes when we find them.
How articles are written
All UMO content is written by Andrea Quattrocchi, Co-Founder & CEO. Topics are chosen based on questions our users ask and areas where we believe the science is underrepresented or widely misunderstood.
We write for a single audience: the everyday athlete who cares about long-term performance and health. We don't write sponsored posts. We don't accept payment from supplement companies, wearable manufacturers, or anyone else in exchange for favorable coverage.
How we source information
Where possible, we cite primary research — peer-reviewed journal articles, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. When describing mechanisms or emerging findings, we prefer review articles over single studies. When evidence is contested, we say so rather than pretending consensus.
We avoid citing blog posts, influencer claims, or industry-funded marketing as authoritative sources.
Scientific review
All health and training articles are reviewed by Scott Mongold, PhD (Neuromechanics, Université Libre de Bruxelles; 10+ years of strength coaching) before publication. Scott reviews for scientific accuracy — not just grammar or tone. See our Medical Review Process for details on scope and cadence.
Corrections
When we find an error — whether in our writing or because new evidence changes the picture — we update the article and record the review date in the article schema (lastReviewed). Material changes are noted at the top of the post.
Conflicts of interest
Andrea is Co-Founder of UMO. Scott is UMO's scientific advisor. Neither has undisclosed financial relationships with brands mentioned in UMO content. If that changes, we'll disclose it here.
